Corporate scandals are nothing new to the world of business. The flood of managerial misdeeds during the last couple of years however raises the question whether the inclusion of ’business ethics’ in the curriculum of every major and minor business school since 1989 had any tangible effect on management behavior and corporate values. Any company pursuing corporate excellence and sustainability in any form has to rise to the issue beyond lip-commitment. Even after the recent scandals, no real change in policy or behavior is noticeable in companies beyond exercises in PR and a flood of corrections of all too creative accounting during the last few years. This paper not only proposes a framework along with control and enforcement processes, it demonstrates that a solid approach makes actually extremely good business sense.
